Curt and I are looking forward to see old friends and supporters and enjoy the company and music together in a relaxed program. We will perform some of our old favorites like "Sunday Afternoon" and "Katakuri no Hana" as well as a modern piece "Hoshun" that has been one of our favorites since we started this project. We have a reinterpretation of Toshiko Akiyoshi's "Sumie," and a couple of new pieces including "Kyokusui." We will have lot's of time to chat and enjoy a glass of wine. I am happy to guest on several tunes on the recording made last year. Kaoru explores aspects of Japanese traditional music in his jazz, including scales, forms, meters and textures. These elements are ingeniously interwoven in the jazz to an almost subliminal level. They occasionally surface to create striking effects. check out the band a little on youtube!
